Bamboo Flooring
Bamboo is that tall reedy plant that’s
a distant cousin to grass and is used to make chairs and baskets.
While that statement is true, it’s only half the story. Bamboo
is also a sturdy building material that has been used in building
construction around the world. Bamboo flooring is harder and more
durable than red oak, rock maple and many of the other trees used
for hardwood flooring—and it is usually much cheaper than
any other form of wood flooring. Bamboo flooring is also an environmentally
friendly home flooring choice. Bamboo is plentiful and grows quickly.
For example, if you select oak flooring or even pine flooring,
it will take between 50 and 100 years to replace the trees used
for your floor. The natural materials used to put bamboo wood flooring
in a similar space require from one to five years to replenish. Most hardwood floor manufacturers stock bamboo flooring and can provide a wide variety of colors and styles. The work required to install your new bamboo flooring is very similar to any other hardwood flooring installation. The biggest difference you’ll notice is the price. Bamboo flooring costs about the same as the cheapest discount hardwood flooring.
